Brentford have made an approach for Bologna's Scottish defender Aaron Hickey with the view to signing him this summer, according to a report.
The 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League during the summer transfer window, which officially opened in England on Friday.
Since making the £1.5m move to Serie A from Hearts, Hickey has become a regular in Bologna's defence, often operating as a left wing-back.
After winning the club's golden boy award in his debut 2020-21 campaign, the Scotland international went on to become a key member of the squad last season, scoring five goals and registering one assist in 36 league appearances to help his side finish 13th in the Italian top flight.
Such form has prompted interest from elsewhere, and after monitoring his development for some time, Brentford are the first to make a move according to the Daily Mail.
The report suggests that an official approach has been made by Thomas Frank's side, as they look to beat the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle United and Aston Villa, as well as Napoli, to his signature.
Bees manager Frank is said to be on the lookout for reinforcements in both wing-back areas this summer, as Brentford look to build on their impressive debut campaign in the Premier League, in which they finished comfortably in 13th place.
