Everton could move for Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou after the Ivorian's proposed move to Arsenal failed to materialise.

Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou has emerged as a transfer target for Everton, according to The Metro.

Arsenal were understood to be preparing an offer for the 26-year-old, but with the Gunners ruling themselves out of the race, Everton could make their move.

The Ivorian is in the final year of his contract and Toffees boss David Moyes is keen to add a striker to his squad.

The striker's contract demands could scupper a deal, however, with the player said to be picking up a salary of £70,000 a week.

Kalou has made 230 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 57 goals.
