Remi Garde says that he wants to build a team around Maxime Gonalons and Clement Grenier at Lyon.

Lyon coach Remi Garde has refused to lie down in the fight to keep hold of star duo Maxime Gonalons and Clement Grenier.

Arsenal have recently been linked with moves for both players, although Garde, who played for the Gunners between 1996 and 1999, wants the pair to become the key figures of his team at the Stade de Gerland.

"Am I keen to accept the transfer of Gonalons and Grenier? No, because they are exactly in our project and I want to build the team around them," Garde told L'Equipe.

"If Grenier achieved such a level it is because he has worked so hard.

"We have been much more demanding with him like all our young players, but he convinced everyone, he did everything to be at the core of our project in the coming years."

Gonalons, 24, has six caps for France, while Grenier, 22, is still waiting for his international debut.
