Report: Bayern Munich line up Mesut Ozil

Bayern Munich are poised to try to prise out-of-form Mesut Ozil away from Arsenal in January, according to reports.

Bayern Munich are reportedly lining up a January bid for unsettled Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Ozil has struggled to live up to his billing since a £42.5m move to the Gunners from Real Madrid a year ago, and came in for widespread criticism over his performances earlier this month.

Bayern boss Pep Guardiola remains a fan, however, and the Bundesliga champions will attempt to prise the 25-year-old away from North London this winter, according to the Evening Standard.

The Germany international stemmed the tide of early-season criticism after bagging a goal and an assist in Arsenal's 3-0 win over Aston Villa last week.

Ozil is contracted to the Emirates Stadium club until 2018.
