Robin van Persie is reportedly hoping to miss Arsenal's pre-season tour in order to seal a move away from the club.

Robin van Persie will reportedly skip Arsenal's pre-season tour of Asia in order to seal a transfer away from the club.

The Dutch international made it known earlier this month that he would not be extending his current contract, which has just 12 months left to run.

Recent reports had claimed that manager Arsene Wenger would force the centre-forward to travel with the squad if no concrete offers were received for his services.

However, the 28-year-old is now likely to stay behind with his representatives, who are currently working on securing his exit from the Emirates Stadium, according to Sky Sports News.

Manchester City is said to be Van Persie's preferred destination.
