Arsenal will not be signing a centre-back during the January transfer window, according to manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that he will not be adding a centre-back to his Arsenal squad during the January transfer window.

The French boss has seen his defence come under scrutiny this season, with German international Per Mertesacker in particular receiving strong criticism.

Chelsea defender Alex, who has been told he can leave Stamford Bridge, has been linked with a move to the Gunners, but Wenger has rebuffed the speculation.

"We will not be on the market for any centre-back, I can assure you," Wenger told Sky Sports News.

Arsenal face Everton at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.
