Arsene Wenger slams rivals' reckless spending

Arsene Wenger slams rival clubs and says that reckless spending is threatening to ruin European football.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has slammed rivals across Europe, admitting that spending in European football is out of control.

Wenger thinks that football as a whole needs to take more responsibility for its finances.

He told The Sun: "We consider ourselves in a privileged position because we have a massive income, but overall we are not mega-rich because we do not have unlimited resources.

"A club can buy players like Paris Saint-Germain has done or Manchester City or Chelsea, with unlimited resources, but overall football suffers.

"PSG are ambitious and they have resources and that's it, we talk always about the same things. Europe at the moment is like the Titanic but we live in football like nothing matters."

Wenger has had to deal with a turbulent summer, including dealing with the intense speculation surrounding star striker Robin van Persie.

Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign against Sunderland on August 18.
