Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has no issues with 2022 winter World Cup in Qatar

Arsene Wenger believes that the 2022 Qatar World Cup should be held in winter, despite the disruption to the Premier League.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that FIFA would be right to hold the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in the winter.

The Premier League and European leagues are due to be affected after a FIFA task force recommended that the tournament should be played during November and December.

The decision to change the dates of the World Cup were made due to the soaring temperatures in the summer months, which could affect the well-being of the players and spectators.

"I don't think [having the World Cup in winter] will impact too much if you have to reorganise the Premier League," Wenger told reporters this morning.

"The World Cup needs to be successful. It's very important because it's a world festival for football and needs to be organised in decent conditions.

"That would not be the case in the summer. I'm personally glad that Qatar won't be in summer because I'm worried about people who attend for their safety."

The final decision will be made by FIFA on March 20.
