Thierry Henry reportedly emerges as a candidate for the managerial position at Aston Villa, who will now be co-owned after the arrival of Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.

The new co-owners of Aston Villa are reportedly considering Thierry Henry for the managerial position at the Championship club.

Villa have spent the summer in financial trouble due to their failure to gain promotion to the Premier League, but the West Midlands outfit announced on Friday that businessmen Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens would be providing 'significant investment'.

The duo will also become co-owners alongside Tony Xia, and according to the Daily Mail, Henry has emerged as a candidate to replace Steve Bruce in the dugout.

Bruce led Villa to the playoff final during the last campaign but after two failed bids at promotion, it appears that the new arrivals on the board are contemplating a change.

Arsenal legend and Belgium assistant Henry has recently revealed that he is leaving his punditry role with Sky Sports to place full focus on becoming a manager.

Villa are likely to make a final decision as soon as possible, with the new second-tier campaign starting on August 4.
