Paul Lambert wants Aston Villa stay

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert says that he would like to remain at the club, but concedes that his future depends on the plans of owner Randy Lerner.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted that he would like to remain in charge of the club next season, but has conceded that his future will depend on the plans of owner Randy Lerner.

The Midlands outfit secured their Premier League status with a 3-1 victory over Hull City at Villa Park on Saturday.

When asked if he would be staying at the club, Lambert told Sky Sports News: "I hope so, that is what I want to do, but you'll know when the chairman says what he is going to do.

"The next step is for the chairman to come out and say. We had to get over the line and then the chairman will come out and say what he will.

"Albeit the last couple of years have been tough. I think the chairman has said himself I have had to work within the parameters he has set between me and him. You either take the challenge on or bottle it."

Lerner is expected to clarify his position after Villa's final Premier League game of the season on May 11.
