Aston Villa eye Christian Benteke's former strike partner?

A report claims that Aston Villa are looking to sign Jelle Vossen from Genk.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has reportedly made a move for Genk striker Jelle Vossen.

The 24-year-old played alongside Villa's current centre-forward Christian Benteke prior to his switch to the Premier League in 2012.

According to the Daily Mail, Vossen could link up with his former teammate if his current employers secure a replacement before tonight's 11pm deadline.

Former Villa striker Stan Collymore hinted on Twitter earlier today that an "unnamed Belgian striker" was close to joining an English club, which is now believed to be Vossen.
