Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva allegedly emerges as a transfer target for a La Liga title contender ahead of the summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva has allegedly emerged as a transfer target for Atletico Madrid.

Having only contributed five goals and six assists from 72 appearances in English football, Silva's future at Molineux has been in considerable doubt for some time.

However, the 22-year-old has successfully kick-started his career across a number of loans, chipping in with 22 strikes for Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers respectively.

With no suitable offers having arrived for a permanent exit in the summer, Silva was allowed to join Las Palmas on loan, a destination where he could earn regular football down the middle of the attack.

That has subsequently proven to be a success, Silva contributing six goals and two assists from his 15 appearances in La Liga and earning his first cap for Portugal.

Atletico to make their move?

Although Silva is tied to Las Palmas for the remainder of the season, clubs are already starting to circle for a player who has less than 18 months remaining on his contract and little prospect of a renewal.

According to TEAMtalk, Atletico manager Diego Simeone has taken a liking to Silva and views him as an option for 2025-26.

While Silva did not score in a 2-0 defeat at Atletico earlier in the season, he has netted in away fixtures at Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Atletico are said to have already informed Wolves that they are contemplating whether to make a formal approach at the end of the season.

The report adds that Silva remains focused on trying to maintain his performances and keep Las Palmas in La Liga. They currently sit three points clear of the relegation zone.

Where would Silva fit in the pecking order?

Antoine Griezmann, Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth are currently the established three senior attackers in Simeone's squad.

However, with Griezmann expected to move to MLS in the summer, a spot could open up for Atletico to sign a younger alternative.

Wolves will realistically have to consider offers between £10m and £15m courtesy of Silva's contractual situation. Furthermore, the two parties are no strangers to conducting business.

Diogo Jota, Jonny Otto and Matheus Cunha have all made the switch from the Riyadh Air Metropolitano to Molineux since 2018.
