Ivan Rakitic is out injured, while Javier Mascherano is omitted from the squad and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Thomas Vermaelen and Adriano are dropped to the bench.

The quintet's places are filled by Jordi Alba, Claudio Bravo, Jeremy Mathieu, Gerard Pique and Munir El Haddadi.

Villarreal, meanwhile, have overhauled their team selection, with Alphonse Areola, Daniele Bonera, Jaume Costa, Denis Suarez, Jonathan dos Santos, Bruno Soriano and Roberto Soldado all coming into Marcelino's starting XI.
