Barcelona 'step up interest in Alexander Isak'

Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the development of Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak as they consider moving for a new striker in the summer.

Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Barcelona.

The worsening financial situation at Camp Nou is expected to lead to player changes over the summer, including the exit of club legend Lionel Messi.

However, officials at the Catalan giants will have to move for replacements, particularly in the final third if the Argentine superstar departs on a free transfer.

According to ESPN, Barcelona have identified Isak as an option with the Sweden international having impressed over the past six weeks.

The 21-year-old has contributed 12 goals from 20 appearances in La Liga, with all but three of those strikes coming since the start of 2021.

While Isak's is said to possess a €70m (£60.44m) release clause, Dortmund are able to re-sign the striker for just €30m (£25.9m) due to terms agreed with Sociedad in July 2019.
