Joan Laporta has hinted that he will attempt to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus this summer if appointed Barcelona president.
The 52-year-old is one of five candidates in the running to replace Josep Maria Bartomeu as top boss at Camp Nou in next month's election.
Laporta hopes that his relationship with in-demand Pogba's agent could help trigger a high-profile move, although the Catalan club face rumoured competition from the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
"Pogba would be a great signing," he told Catalunya Radio. "He is a very strong player, very young and he is enthusiastic to arrive here.
"Everyone believes he would fit in Barca's system. I have a good relationship with Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, since the time when we signed Maxwell and [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic."
The presidential election at Barcelona will take place on July 18.
