Barcelona boss Luis Enrique reportedly wants to make Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic his big-money signing in next summer's transfer window.
The 25-year-old has been with Roma since 2011, making more than 150 appearances for the Italian side and scoring 26 times.
This season, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international has netted eight times in 14 appearances for his club, which is already his best scoring season.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Barcelona have accepted that it will be difficult to prise the midfielder away in January, but the Spanish giants will launch a £28m move next summer.
Pjanic and Barcelona will come face to face in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, when Roma visit Camp Nou.
