Barnsley hold league leaders Bristol City

Aaron Wilbraham rescues a late 2-2 draw for League One leaders Bristol City in their clash with Barnsley on Saturday as the Robins extend their unbeaten run to 21 games.

League One leaders Bristol City extended their unbeaten run to 21 games after salvaging a 2-2 draw with Barnsley at Oakwell this afternoon.

Steve Cotterill's side survived an early scare when referee Darren Deadman waved away Barnsley's appeals for a penalty, after Derrick Williams appeared to bring down Ryan Williams in the area.

Joe Bryan nearly put the Robins ahead after 28 minutes but could only divert Luke Freeman's cross wide of goal, before Frank Fielding came to his side's rescue when he acrobatically kept out Devante Cole's effort a minute later.

Luke Ayling broke the deadlock for City when he nodded home Bryan's cross on 36 minutes, but Barnsley were level on 59 minutes when Sam Winnall notched his third goal in three games.

Barnsley then took the lead when Ayling fouled Conor Hourihane in the box, with the Irish midfielder picking himself up to slot home the penalty.

Just as it appeared as though Barnsley were set to shock the league leaders, a mishit clearance fell to Aaron Wilbraham on the edge of the Barnsley box, and he calmly fired beyond Ross Turnbull to rescue a point for his side.
