Bristol City held by brave Bradford City

Bristol City set a club record by going 14 games unbeaten with a draw at home to Bradford City.

Bristol City increased their lead at the top of League One and broke a 60-year-old club record this evening, despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Bradford City at Ashton Gate.

The home side started in bullish mood as Luke Freeman missed an early opportunity to give Steve Cotterill's men the lead in the second minute, but he made up for that wasted chance by finding the head of Aden Flint on nine minutes with a free kick, which left Jordan Pickford beaten.

When Pickford kept out Joe Bryan and saw Kieran Agard's strike drift narrowly wide, the game had threatened to get away from the Bantams.

However, they managed to equalise on 20 minutes when Billy Clarke headed Mark Yeates's free kick past keeper Frank Fielding.

Buoyed by their breakthrough, Bradford almost took the lead when Yeates struck the crossbar and Andy Halliday then hit the right post within a matter of seconds.

The visitors' purple patch continued as Clarke was close to netting his second of the game, but for the intervention of Fielding.

However, City also carried a threat in attack with Agard again firing narrowly wide before Yeates's header was saved by Pickford just after the half-hour.

Late in the half, Freeman brought a stop out of a busy Pickford and then Aaron Wilbraham was denied by the Bradford keeper.

However, despite an amazing 45 minutes that saw 19 attempts on goal, both side reached the interval with only one to their name.

The contest was no less frenetic in the early moments of the second half as Wade Elliott, Bryan and Marlon Pack all wasted chances to put the Robins back in front.

Just before the hour mark, Halliday brought yet another stop out of Fielding as Bradford showed little sign of sitting back.

On 82 minutes, Flint netted a second for Bristol City and had appeared to snatch victory for the leaders after tucking home another Freeman assist.

However, Bradford's Christopher Routis unleashed a thunderous strike, which went in off the crossbar with five minutes remaining to earn a share of the spoils.
