Real Betis considering Gus Poyet future following boycott threat

Real Betis president Angel Haro reveals that Gus Poyet's position as manager of the La Liga club is currently under review following a disappointing start to his tenure.

Gus Poyet's future as Real Betis manager is in further doubt after the Spanish club announced that they are currently reviewing his position.

The ex-Sunderland and Brighton & Hove Albion boss has made a slow start to life at the Benito Villamarin, winning three of his first 11 La Liga games at the helm.

Despite supporter unrest growing, Poyet claimed earlier this week that he is 'not worried' about the questions over his long-term future in Andalusia, but Betis chiefs could now be forced to take action following news that a certain section of fans will stay away from games until he is dismissed.

"We're studying the matter, working on the situation. Betis fans can sit in peace," president Angel Haro is quoted as saying by Spanish publication AS.

Betis, with four defeats in their last five - including a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of leaders Real Madrid - are currently two points above the relegation zone.
