Real Betis boss Gus Poyet 'not worried' by speculation

Real Betis boss Gus Poyet insists that he is 'not worried' by the constant speculation surrounding his future at the Benito Villamarin.

Real Betis boss Gus Poyet has insisted that he is 'not worried' by the constant speculation surrounding his future at the Benito Villamarin.

A difficult start to the season has left Betis in 14th position in La Liga, having lost six of their 11 league matches this season - the last of which came at Villarreal on Sunday afternoon.

It has once again been claimed that Poyet is on the verge of losing his job, but the Uruguayan is remaining "calm" amid the speculation.

"It does not worry me, as having a job depends on more than just me. I try not to get in trouble after games and not to get carried away by any emotions - I like to sit and analyse the situation, and that's why I am calm," Poyet told reporters.

"As a coach I have tried to find the best balance of the team between attack and defence, but against Villarreal we were short in attacking areas and that is worrisome. We did not play well and the performance was not the one we had planned for."

Last month, Poyet received public backing from Betis vice-president Jose Miguel Lopez Catalan, who insisted that the 47-year-old would be given time to make his mark at the club.
