Chris Hughton expects "stern" Club Brugge test

Birmingham boss Chris Hughton expects a "stern test" when his side take on Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday.

Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton has said that he expects a "stern test" when his side take on Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Blues claimed their first victory of the competition when they beat NK Maribor two weeks ago, while Brugge defeated the much-fancied Braga.

"We're expecting a stern test from Brugge," he said.

"They had a very, very good victory against Braga, who were perhaps the favourites to win the group after reaching the final last season.

"That shows the quality they have. They're used to the European stage and domestically they are used to being at the top, winning football matches. This competition is new territory for us. It's a tough task here but one we're looking forward to."

City are currently third in Qualifying Group G, while the Belgian are top of the standings.
