Report: Robbie Keane open to Harry Redknapp reunion at Birmingham City

Robbie Keane is expected to join Birmingham City as a free agent after reportedly informing Harry Redknapp that he will take up the option of a short-term deal.

Free agent Robbie Keane has informed Harry Redknapp that he is interested in joining Birmingham City this summer, according to a report.

The ex-Republic of Ireland international is on the Blues' radar, as they gear up for a possible Championship promotion push in the 2017-18 campaign.

Keane has been deliberating over his next career step, having left Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of his contract in November, but he is thought to have put any retirement plans on hold.

Sky Sports News claims that the 37-year-old will take up Redknapp's offer of a short-term deal, linking up with the man who he spent time working under at Tottenham Hotspur.

A Wolverhampton Wanderers academy graduate, Keane's last taste of English football came five years ago when making six appearances for neighbours Aston Villa.
