Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has urged Nigerian forward Yakubu to show some loyalty and stay at Ewood Park this summer.
The relegated Lancashire club signed Yakubu for £1.5m from Everton last August after he had failed to make an appearance for the Toffees in almost eight months.
Kean told The Sun: "We have to remind Yakubu that we were the ones who went and brought him in from the wilderness at Everton.
"He's played every game and had his highest-scoring season for a number of years, so hopefully he will see there are good reasons for him to stay.
"There is bound to be interest in him but if we can persuade him to stay, it could be a catalyst for others to decide that, yes, they do want to stay here and help us go back up."
Blackburn travel to Chelsea later today in what will be their last Premier League fixture for at least 14 months.
