Blackpool manager Michael Appleton insists that his side performed well during their 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Blackpool manager Michael Appleton has insisted that his side performed well during their 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday night.

The Tangerines found themselves two goals down courtesy of a Sylvan Ebanks-Blake brace, before Alex Baptiste set up a dramatic finish by pulling one back in the final minute of regulation time.

Blackpool dominated the match for large periods and were responsible for 24 of the game's 29 shots.

"When you see the amount of possession we had and the chances we created there were a lot of positives for us," Appleton told Sky Sports News.

"I was happy with how the players responded to going behind - we created numerous opportunities but we need to be clinical."

Wolves now sit 13th in the Championship table and are just six points below Millwall, who occupy the final playoff place.

Meanwhile, Blackpool are one point and two places better off than the Molineux outfit.
