Lee Clark: 'I don't blame fans for pitch invasion'

Blackpool manager Lee Clark refuses to criticise the club's fans after their Championship match against Huddersfield Town is abandoned following a pitch invasion.

Blackpool manager Lee Clark has said that he will not criticise any fans who invaded the pitch during Blackpool's Championship match against Huddersfield Town.

The match was abandoned after 48 minutes when a group of fans came onto the pitch at Bloomfield Road to protest against unpopular chairman Karl Oyston.

"It just compounds an absolutely horrendous season," Clark told Sky Sports News. "The supporters were just acting on this season and the culmination of the relegation.

"Frustration has been building up over a period of time. It's a very, very disappointing day. I love football and I love working in the industry ever since I left school, and I didn't want to be involved in anything like this.

"I have the feelings of a supporter and I'll never criticise them. Since I came through the door there has been a very toxic atmosphere and you can't be successful with that."

Blackpool were relegated from the Championship with a record-low points total as they suffered from financial problems throughout the campaign.
