Blackpool caretaker boss Barry Ferguson calls for clarity on future

Blackpool caretaker boss Barry Ferguson calls upon the club to make a decision about his future.

Blackpool caretaker manager Barry Ferguson has called upon the club's executives to make a decision regarding his future.

The former Rangers player is keen to establish whether he will be in charge at Bloomfield Road next season, as he wants to begin preparations for the new campaign.

"In all honesty it needs to happen soon," he told the Blackpool Gazette. "There are only five contracted players, so you don't need to be a rocket scientist to realise major changes are needed. There's a massive rebuilding job here.

"I want to make those decisions but that's for the powers above to decide. I'd love to be able to start now. This is a club which has major potential if we are allowed to bring in players.

"I already have people in mind for next season and I need to be letting these lads know. They are out of contract and they need to know their futures too."

Several key Blackpool players including Craig Cathcart, Chris Basham, Steven Davies and Matt Gilks are out of contract this summer, while numerous others are entering the final year of their current deals.
