Bolton Wanderers reveal their midfielder Fabrice Muamba is continuing to make improvements following his cardiac arrest on Saturday evening.

Bolton Wanderers have revealed that their midfielder Fabrice Muamba is continuing to make improvements following his cardiac arrest on Saturday evening.

While the 23-year-old remains in the intensive care unit at the London Chest Hospital, he is now able to talk with his loved ones and move his arms and legs.

"He is currently able to breathe independently without the aid of a ventilator," read a statement on the club's official website. "He has also been able to recognise family members and respond to questions appropriately.

"These are all positive signs of progress. However, his condition remains serious and our medical staff in intensive care will continue to monitor and treat him."

The hospital where Muamba is currently receiving treatment in Bethnal Green is expected to make a further statement later this evening.
