Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Championship clash between Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday at the Reebok Stadium.

Bolton Wanderers welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Reebok on Boxing Day with both clubs enduring disappointing starts to their respective Championship campaigns.

The Trotters have recorded just 29 points from their 23 matches thus far, a total that has left them in 14th spot in the table and eight points outside of the playoff positions.

Wednesday have also struggled this season, but back-to-back league wins have elevated them out of the relegation zone, although they are still just two points off the bottom of the table.

The two sides have already met this season at the Hillsborough Stadium and it was Bolton that picked up all three points with a 2-1 win.

Bolton boss Dougie Freedman could recall Martin Petrov for the clash, but it is likely that he will continue with a five-man midfield, with Kevin Davies leading the line once more.

Wednesday could name the same side that beat Charlton Athletic at the weekend, but Jermaine Johnson and Kieran Lee are both pushing for recalls.

Recent form:

Bolton Wanderers: WLDWL
Sheffield Wednesday: LLLWW

Possible lineups:

Bolton Wanderers: Bogdan; Mears, Knight, Ricketts, Warnock; Butterfield, Andrews, Spearing, Eagles, Lee; Davies

Sheffield Wednesday: Kirkland; Buxton, Johnson, Gardner, Llera; Antonio, McCabe, Helan, Prutton; Madine, O'Grady

Sports Mole says: 2-1
