Jamie Mackie grabs Reading late draw against hosts Bolton Wanderers

Jamie Mackie grabs a last-gasp equaliser for Reading as they salvage a 1-1 draw away at Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.

Jamie Mackie's injury-time equaliser nullified an opener from Eidur Gudjohnsen as visitors Reading snatched a 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers at the Macron Stadium in the Championship this evening.

Wanderers centre-back David Wheater went close in the opening minutes when he headed wide from an inviting delivery produced by Barry Bannan from a corner.

Zach Clough appeared creative in the early stages and he carved out a neat through-ball for Liam Feeney, who saw his shot saved by Adam Federici in the centre of the Reading goal.

Reading's Mackie produced an important stop from Bolton stopper Ben Amos in the 21st minute, the striker driving a shot low towards the bottom-right corner.

Mackie was almost in again for the away side just before the break, but he fired over from a tight angle after some enterprising play courtesy of Garath McCleary.

Bolton's Adam le Fondre registered his first important shot of the night on the stroke of half time, but Amos saved easily as the sides went into the interval on level terms.

Neil Lennon's men came out with real intent in the second period, and Federici was forced to pull off another good save to deny Saidy Janko from a tight angle.

The home side took the lead in the 60th minute through veteran striker Gudjohnsen, who made use of some industrious work from Le Fondre to finish into the centre of goal.

Reading almost grabbed an equaliser late on when Pogrebnyak picked out Alex Pearce, but the centre-back spooned his effort high and wide from the left side of the box following pressure from Matt Mills.

It seemed as though the hosts would walk away with all three points but for Mackie, who returned in injury time to steal an important point for the visitors with a low strike that crept past an unlucky Amos.
