Bolton Wanderers have become the fourth Championship club in the last few weeks to have handed former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi a trial.
The 33-year-old, who has been without a team since he was released by Crystal Palace at the end of last season, has recently spent time with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town.
However, having seen nothing materialise from those stints, the centre-forward has now been offered the chance to earn himself a contract at the Macron Stadium.
"We're looking at Shola Ameobi. He's in on trial with us at the minute," Bolton boss Neil Lennon told reporters.
"He's a quality player with a lot of experience. We've asked him to show us what he's capable of and we'll consider our options."
As well as Newcastle and Palace, Ameobi has also turned out for Stoke City and Turkish side Gaziantep BB.
