Emile Heskey makes English return with Bolton Wanderers

Emile Heskey plays his first competitive game since April for Bolton Wanderers' Under-21 side as he looks to earn himself a contract with the Championship club.

Veteran striker Emile Heskey made his return to English football last night by turning out for Bolton Wanderers' Under-21s side.

The 36-year-old former Liverpool and England forward has been training with the Championship club and lasted 63 minutes against Reading.

He has been without a team since being released by Australian A-League outfit Newcastle Jets in April.

Bolton boss Neil Lennon is a former Leicester City teammate of Heskey's and invited him to train with the Trotters earlier this month.

If Heskey earns himself a deal at the Macron Stadium, he will be the second veteran to join the club following the short-term arrival of Eidur Gudjohnsen.
