Dunga: 'Brazilian football needs overhaul to return to best'

Under-fire Brazil manager Dunga admits that his side have "a lot of work" to do before they can earn their place back among world football's best national sides.

Dunga has suggested that a complete revamp of Brazilian football is required following his side's quarter-final exit at the Copa America.

The Selecao suffered a shock penalty-shootout defeat to Paraguay on Saturday night, in what was a repeat of four years ago when they were sent packing by the same opposition.

Under-fire boss Dunga now believes that, 11 months on from their 7-1 World Cup humiliation to Germany on home soil, mass changes are required both on an off the pitch.

"We have to rethink Brazilian football, not only on the field," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"We have to recognise that other nations have improved, and we must be humble and understand that it's time to get to work. We know we have a lot of work ahead of us."

Dunga also claimed that fifteen members of his squad were struck down by illness prior to the clash against Paraguay.
