Brentford claimed a first victory over Queens Park Rangers since 1965 with a 1-0 win at Griffin Park this evening.
Both sides struggled to create clear opportunities in the first half, but QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo was twice denied his first goal for the club by the woodwork.
The Bees took the lead on 56 minutes, when Alan Judge played in Marco Djuricin for a close range finish, and Lee Carsley's side controlled the remainder of the match to secure a fourth straight win.

Good evening football fans! Welcome to Sports Mole's live text commentary of the West London derby at Griffin Park, where Brentford host Queens Park Rangers. Just two points separate these local rivals in the Championship table, and both sides are making strides forward in the league. The Bees have won three matches in a row prior to tonight, while the R's were comfortable 3-0 winners over MK Dons last week. With an eye on those all-important playoff places, there is more than just local pride at stake tonight.
The team sheets have been released, so let's take a look at how the two sides will line up this evening.
BRENTFORD XI: Button; Yennaris, Tarkowski, Dean, Bidwell; McCormack, Diagouraga; Woods, Swift, Judge; Djuricin
BRENTFORD SUBS: Bonham, Kerschbaumer, Vibe, O'Connell, Gogia, Canos, Hofmann
QUEENS PARK RANGERS XI: Green; Onuoha, Hall, Hill, Konchesky; Henry, Tozser; Philips, Luongo, Chery; Emmanuel-Thomas
QUEENS PARK RANGERS SUBS: Smithies, Perch, Doughty, Austin, Hoilett, Faurlin, Polter
Unsurprisingly given the two sides' form coming into this clash, both teams are unchanged tonight. QPR striker Charlie Austin has to make do with a place on the bench following his recovery from injury, while Jay Emmanuel-Thomas continues up front for the visitors after scoring the opener against MK Dons last weekend.
As for the hosts, Marco Djuricin starts up front this evening in search of a fourth Bees goal, while Irishman Alan Judge will continue his record of playing every minute of every Brentford game so far this season. The former Blackburn Rovers man is the club's top scorer with six goals, while notching up four assists for his teammates. The R's must keep Judge quiet if they are to take something from Griffin Park this evening.
There is nothing to separate these two sides on past meetings. Brentford have won on 21 occasions, as have Queens Park Rangers, while there have been 23 draws between the sides. The last meeting between the clubs took place at Griffin Park on February 14, 2004, and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Speaking to Sky Sports News ahead of tonight's clash, Queens Park Rangers manager Chris Ramsey has admitted that his squad are looking forward to take on the Bees this evening.
"We've got a good bunch of players, a good bunch of lads who are looking forward to the game tonight," Ramsey said.
PREDICTION: With less than 10 minutes to go until kickoff, it's time for a prediction. I'm sitting on the fence with this one and going 2-2. There's goals in both sides - especially with Charlie Austin ready to come off the bench for tonight's visitors - and after their recent good form the Bees and the R's will be confident in attack this evening.
Let's recap the two sides before proceedings commence. Both teams are unchanged from last weekend, with Alan Judge playing behind Marco Djuricin for the hosts, while Jay Emmanuel-Thomas continues up front for QPR.
The players are on the pitch, and kickoff is just moments away!
KICKOFF! Queens Park Rangers get proceedings underway.
It's been a scrappy start to proceedings, but the Bees are keeping the ball on the ground better than their opponents. Harlee Dean tries to play Alan Judge in, but his attempted pass goes too far and out for a goal kick.
QPR are trying to use their physical strength to their advantage, with balls being played in to their powerful striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas. Brentford are dealing with the pressure well so far, and breaking with regularity.
SHOT! John Swift has the game's first attempt on goal for Brentford, but his attempt from the edge of the area has the sting taken out of it by Grant Hall, who slides to get a touch on the ball, making the save comfortable for Robert Green.
John Swift tries to find Alan Judge to his left, but the Bees' talisman slips and the ball rolls out of play. Brentford are the better of the two sides so far this evening.
Queens Park Rangers get a rare moment of possession, before Paul Konchesky tries to play Tjaronn Chery in on the left, but the Dutchman is outmuscled by the Brentford defender and the hosts win the ball back.
CHANCE! Brentford break quickly following a QPR throw, as John Swift takes on a few defenders and the away side struggle to clear their lines. The ball is worked to Jake Bidwell, who whips a cross into the box where Alan McCormack rises highest, but the veteran midfielder's header goes over the bar.
SHOT! Matt Philips tries to find a Rangers man in the Bees box, but his cross can only find Button. Brentford then break with Jake Bidwell and Alan Judge on the left, before the latter wins a corner. From the set play, Philips clears the ball as far as Diagouraga, who has a go from distance but the effort was always rising.
Queens Park Rangers put some pressure on the Brentford back line, but the Bees deal with it comfortably. The visitors have struggled to find their rhythm so far tonight.
YELLOW CARDS! Things get a little bit heated as Alan McCormack kicks out at Clint Hill, before the QPR man gives the Bees veteran a shove. The two exchange a few words, before the referee gives both players a yellow card.
There's a real derby feel to this match - it is a heated, tense affair, and neither side has been able to find any moments of composure so far. Brentford have looked more dangerous so far, but their opponents have had their moments.
YELLOW CARD! Brentford break quickly, but their progress is halted as Daniel Tozser hacks Alan McCormack down in the centre circle. One for the team that, he picks up a booking for it.
SHOT! Alan Judge shows a nice bit of skill to find space outside the area, but his effort on goal is tame and goes harmlessly wide.
Brentford work the ball out from back to front and try to carve out an opportunity, and Alan Judge is at the heart of it. After exchanging passes in midfield, the forward plays a lofted ball towards Ryan Woods on the right, but it goes just beyond the wide man and out of play.
Diagouraga wins the ball high up the pitch for Brentford and looks to launch an attack, but his teammates are unable to carve out an opportunity and QPR can clear their lines.
SHOT! Queens Park Rangers' first attempt of the night comes courtesy of Matt Philips. The Scottish international cuts inside from the right and plays a neat one-two with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas before hitting an effort straight at David Button. Better from the R's, but it was always comfortable for the Bees stopper.
CHANCE! Good opportunity for Queens Park Rangers to take the lead, as Jay Emmanuel-Thomas plays a great pass from deep towards Tjaronn Chery, but the midfielder gets a chipped effort horribly wrong and fires over the bar.
SHOT! At the other end, John Swift has an effort from the left of the box, and Robert Green is forced into action. The former England man struggles to keep the ball for a moment, but recovers before a Brentford attacker can close him down.
CHANCE! So close for QPR! Ryan Woods does well to win the ball off Paul Konchesky, but his cross is cleared, before QPR break. Matt Philips whips a good ball into the box from the left, and Massimo Luongo meets the delivery with a header that rattles the crossbar! The match has really opened up in the last 10 minutes.
After their close escape the Bees have taken the sting out of the game, and are happy to knock the ball around the pitch.
SHOT! The Bees knock it around in the QPR half, and Alan Judge tries his luck from 30 yards, but his strike is comfortable for Robert Green.
CHANCE! Unbelievably bad luck for Massimo Luongo! The midfielder takes the ball in the Brentford box before hitting the woodwork again, this time striking the right post with a neat finish that almost nestled into the bottom corner of the net. So unlucky for QPR.
One minute of added time to come.
HALF TIME! Brentford 0-0 Queens Park Rangers
A lively first half at Griffin Park in this West London derby, in which Massimo Luongo was twice denied his first Queens Park Rangers goal by the woodwork. Entertaining stuff, but a lack of clear cut opportunities. Will there be a goal in the second half? Stay with us to find out.
Fancy a bit of half-time reading? Earlier today Sports Mole's Football League Editor Pascal Lemesre spoke to Brentford's former Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran. The 22-year-old was once tipped for the top of the game, but after loan spells out at Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic and Vitesse Arnhem, the English playmaker is recovering from injury at his new club. Find out what he had to say here.
Stats time. The Bees have dominated the ball, with 58% possession, and have had more shots than their opponents (6-4). R's fans will point to those two Massimo Luongo chances that hit the woodwork though, and the match has been very open so far.
An interesting line to bring you from the Championship, and Wigan Athletic striker Grant Holt has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan until January 2. The former Norwich City has been a big disappointment at the Lancashire outfit. His only two Latics goals came in August 2013, before the big man spent time at Aston Villa and Huddersfield Town on loan, picking up a serious injury at the latter. Can he rejuvenate his career at Molineux?
Back to the West London derby - you can read how the first half played out with Sports Mole's half-time report here.
The players have returned to the pitch, and the restart is just moments away.
RESTART! Brentford get the second half underway.
CHANCES! Brentford have started the second half brightly, and Alan McCormack wins the ball on the right before playing in Marco Djuricin, whose effort is parried by Robert Green. The rebound falls to John Swift, but the youngster fires over the bar.
CHANCE! Decent opportunity for the R's, as Tjaronn Chery whips a cross into the box from the left, before Matt Philips heads straight into the hands of David Button.
Grant Hall gives away a free kick on the QPR area for a raised foot in the challenge, but the set piece that follows comes to nothing. The second half has begun at the same pace the first had ended, and you feel that there is a goal coming very soon.
GOAL! Brentford 1-0 Queens Park Rangers (Marco Djuricin)
What did I say? The home fans were screaming for a penalty, as Alan Judge was brought down in the box, but nothing was given and the R's cleared their lines. The Bees come forward once more, and Judge whips a low ball into the box from the left, which Marco Djuricin connects with to give the Bees the lead! Well deserved on the basis of this second half so far.
The game gets a bit scrappy after play restarts, but the Bees won't mind that. Charlie Austin is preparing himself to come on for Queens Park Rangers, can he make it a dream return from injury in the derby this evening?
SHOT! Judge takes a free kick from the left of the penalty area, and tries to bend it into the top-right corner, but it goes harmlessly wide to the relief of Robert Green.
SUBSTITUTION! QPR make the first change of the night, as Tjaronn Chery is replaced by Charlie Austin, can he make the difference?
Close moment for David Button, who handles the ball inside his own penalty area - just. Very nearly a bad error from the keeper.
SUBSTITUTION! Second change for the R's, who bring on Junior Hoilett for Massimo Luongo, who was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet twice in the first half.
The match has quietened down a bit with the substitutions. QPR are going 4-4-2 now with two genuine wide players in Hoilett and Philips as Chris Ramsey's side search for an equaliser.
CHANCE! Brentford with a quick break, as Alan McCormack floats a cross into the box which meets the head of Jake Bidwell, but the full-back's effort goes well over the bar. Clint Hill is down injured at the moment, and James Perch seems to be the man ready to replace the R's stalwart.
SUBSTITUTION! The former Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic man does indeed come on for Hill, who limps off with injury. Nedum Onuoha moves to centre-back, with James Perch at right-back.
Alan Judge finds space on the left to put in a cross, but his delivery flies over everyone and out for a throw in. Not the Irishman's finest moment, but he's had a good game aside from that and chalked up an assist.
SUBSTITUTION! Judge is brought off for Brentford's first change of the evening, and is replaced by Austrian midfielder Konstantin Kerschbaumer. The Irishman seemed to have picked up a slight niggle before departing, and so Lee Carsley has decided to haul him off early.
Since the switch to 4-4-2 QPR have done next to nothing going forward. Charlie Austin has not had a sniff of a chance, nor a notable touch of the ball.
Right on cue, the R's come forward with Matt Philips on the right, before the winger puts an inviting low cross into the box towards Charlie Austin. The delivery is cut out by the Bees defence though, and the hosts break quickly.
YELLOW CARD! Matt Philips is booked for a clumsy challenge on Toumani Diagouraga.
SUBSTITUTION! Second change for Brentford, as Alan McCormack is replaced by Lasse Vibe.
Neat play from John Swift, who tries to play in Konstantin Kerschbaumer, but QPR are able to clear their lines. The Chelsea man has been impressive at times tonight for the Bees, showing some neat touches throughout the match. The youngster plays another delivery in for Lasse Vibe to chase down, but Robert Green is first to the loose ball.
YELLOW CARD! Marco Djuricin picks up a booking for a block on Robert Green.
SHOT! QPR win a corner, which is cleared as far as Junior Hoilett. The former Blackburn Rovers man drills an effort towards goal, but the strike is blocked and Brentford break. The ball goes over the top in the path of Marco Djuricin, but James Perch scampers back to win the ball.
SUBSTITUTION! Final change of the night sees goalscorer Marco Djuricin come off for Philipp Hofmann.
There are five minutes of added time to be played at Griffin Park following Clint Hill's injury earlier.
SHOT! Philipp Hoffman has left-footed strike from the edge of the penalty box, but it goes harmlessly wide. The Bees are looking comfortable now, QPR have offered very little in the second half.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas takes a long throw in that slightly troubles the Brentford defence, but the Bees clear their lines following the return ball.
SHOT! One last chance for QPR, as Philips holds the ball up and plays in Daniel Tozser, but the Hungarian's effort is well wide of the target. Final whistle is imminent.
FULL TIME! Brentford 1-0 Queens Park Rangers
A first win for Brentford over Queens Park Rangers since 1965, and on the balance of play it is a fully deserved one. There was only one team in the second half, and a Marco Djuricin goal made sure of the victory. QPR fans will point towards the two Massimo Luongo strikes that hit the woodwork, but in truth Chris Ramsey's side offered little going forward. It finishes 1-0 at Griffin Park this evening.
That wraps up Sports Mole's coverage of Brentford vs. Queens Park Rangers, thank you so much for joining us this evening! I'll leave you with the full match report - stay with Sports Mole for all the latest from the football this weekend. Goodnight!
