Brentford confirm the signing of Kevin Schade from Bundesliga club Freiburg for a club-record fee.

Brentford have confirmed the permanent signing of Kevin Schade for a club-record fee.

Schade joined Thomas Frank's side in the January transfer window, signing on an initial loan deal from Freiburg until the end of the season.

The club have now confirmed that they have signed him on a permanent transfer, splashing out a club-record fee believed to be £22m.

Brentford's previous record signing was Keane Lewis-Potter, who joined the club from Hull City last summer for an initial £16m fee, potentially rising to £20m.

Schade, who has made 19 appearances for the Bees, has signed a five-year contract until the summer of 2028.

Brentford director of football Phil Giles told the club's official website: "When Kevin joined us on loan in January, we agreed with Freiburg that the move would become permanent this summer if certain conditions were met, which included Brentford remaining a Premier League team for next season.

"We have all been pleased with Kevin's contribution so far, both on the pitch and his professionalism off it, so to have him with us now until 2028 is fantastic for the club.

"We all hope both Kevin and Brentford can make further progress from here and look forward to the challenge."

Schade will leave Freiburg after scoring six goals and providing four assists in 36 competitive appearances for the German club.

The winger has been included in the Germany Under-21 squad for the upcoming European Championships, which will take place in Georgia and Romania later this month.
