Brighton & Hove Albion have returned to the Championship play-off places with a hard-fought win over Derby County at the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls took the lead after 10 minutes when Inigo Calderon marked his first league start since Valentine's Day by nodding Rodriguez Vicente's in-swinging corner past Frank Fielding.

Nigel Clough's team responded well to the setback and could have levelled before half time, but Peter Brezovan tipped over from Jake Buxton before Theo Robinson wasted a gilt-edged headed chance.

The hosts improved after the break and sealed the win 24 minutes from time as Vicente cut in from the left flank and teed-up Ashley Barnes, who found the far corner with a clinical 12-yard finish.
