Burnley's Michael Duff: 'We've been written off, but we can prove critics wrong'

Michael Duff is hopeful that Burnley can prove their critics wrong after being written off "so many times".

Burnley defender Michael Duff is hopeful that he and his teammates can hit back at their critics by securing Premier League survival by the end of the season.

Sean Dyche's side, who were promoted from the Championship last season, are currently one point adrift of safety with eight games left to play.

At the start of the season, the Clarets were tipped to go down, but Duff believes that there is enough confidence and quality in the squad to "achieve something".

"We were written off from day one and after the first 10 games everyone said we wouldn't win a game this season," Duff told the club's official website. "So being in the position we're in, alive and kicking, is a great chance.

"We've been written off so many times and not just this year, but last year as well. But there's a real strength amongst the squad, the players and the staff that we can achieve something."

This Sunday, Burnley will take on Tottenham Hotspur at Turf Moor.
