Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe: "Burnley strangled us"

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe admits that Burnley 'were the better side' in Wednesday evening's Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has confessed that his side "barely got going" in their deserved 2-1 defeat to Burnley on Wednesday night.

The Cherries lost for the fourth time in seven home matches this season through goals from Chris Wood and Robbie Brady either side of half time.

Joshua King's 79th-minute goal came too late to spark a Bournemouth revival, leaving Howe disappointed by the manner of his side's overall display at the Vitality Stadium.

"We were off it. They strangled us; we never got our passing game going and that's credit to them, that's how they play - and I think they were better than us," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"I don't think they do surprise, they're very good at what they do. From our perspective we needed to use the ball better, get more tempo in our game. We were just flat and barely got going."

Bournemouth, unbeaten in three top-flight outings prior to last night, are now 15th in the table and four points above the relegation zone.
