Burnley chief executive Lee Hoos: 'We don't need to sell players'

Burnley chief executive Lee Hoos insists that the relegated club will not be forced to sell players this summer.

Burnley chief executive Lee Hoos has insisted that relegation from the Premier League will not force the club to sell its key players this summer.

The Clarets are currently preparing for life in the Championship following a difficult season in the top flight.

While admitting that changes could be made to the squad at the end of the campaign, Hoos is confident that the nucleus of the playing staff will remain intact.

"We are in the fortunate position right now where we will not be forced to sell anyone for financial reasons," he told the club's official website. "We have managed things well and the whole point of building a squad is to try to hold on to what you have and then build from there.

"I can't predict the future and what might happen to individuals, but last time we were relegated we were forced to sell players to balance the books.

"We won't be in that position next season and we are now in a position where we can remind the players what we are capable of and that the best way to get to the Premier League is to stick with us and help take us back there."

Burnley continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they entertain Stoke City.
