Burnley have agreed a deal with Reading to bring defender Joseph Mills to Turf Moor on a season-long loan.
Despite only joining the Royals from Southampton last summer, the left-back has struggled to get minutes under Brian McDermott and will now gain first-team experience in Lancashire.
The arrival of Nicky Shorey, alongside already-present left-back Ian Harte, means that Mills was to stand little chance of football with Reading in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old has become Burnley's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Luke O'Neill, George Porter and Jason Shackell.
