Sean Morrison: 'Cardiff City showed real character in Charlton Athletic win'

Sean Morrison says that Cardiff City's victory over Charlton Athletic helps to show "the kind of group we have", after recovering from a goal down to take the points.

Cardiff City defender Sean Morrison has suggested that his side's comeback win over Charlton Athletic highlights the fighting spirit among the squad.

The Bluebirds climbed back into the Championship playoff zone thanks to a 2-1 victory in South Wales on Saturday afternoon.

Having fallen behind to Karlan Ahearne-Grant's first senior goal, City recovered well to claim all three points through two second-half goals of their own.

Morrison, who proved to be the matchwinner on the day, claims that his side fully deserved their win - a first in three outings - in front of their supporters.

"We've done that more than once now and it shows the kind of group we have," he is quoted as saying by Wales Online. "There is a lot of depth, a lot of character. The manager has put together a quality squad. He inherited a lot of players, but has got the group fighting for each other.

"At 1-0 down it looked as though we had given ourselves a tough job, but we managed to come out on top. I felt we were the better team throughout and deserved the points.

"When you lose two matches, as we did against Hull and Rotherham, it's important to react in the right way and bounce back. That's what we did and if we keep ticking over, winning at home and doing what we are doing away then we'll make progress and be in and around things."

Cardiff head to league leaders Brighton & Hove Albion in their final match before the upcoming two-week hiatus.
