Vincent Tan: 'Russell Slade will have full control of Cardiff City team'

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan says that soon-to-be-hired Russell Slade will pick the team on his own when he becomes manager.

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has insisted that soon-to-be-hired Russell Slade will have full control of the team when he becomes manager.

Tan recently revealed that Slade is currently in a consultancy role with the club as the transition from former club Leyton Orient is yet to be finalised.

When asked if it would be Slade and Slade alone who picked the team, Tan told Sky Sports News: "Yes. I won't get involved in that.

"Sometimes I will make suggestions when we've paid so much for a player. Isn't it logical [to play them]?

"Of course Russell Slade will [pick the team]. Slade is friendly. I look at him, I think we can trust him and trust is the most important ingredient."

Slade, who will replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Bluebirds boss, is unlikely to be in charge for tomorrow night's trip to Brighton & Hove Albion, but could be at the helm when Cardiff travel to lowly Blackpool on Saturday.
