Joaquin Larrivey: 'I had other offers'

Argentine forward Joaquin Larrivey says that he turned down other offers before signing for Celta Vigo on a free transfer this summer.

Argentine forward Joaquin Larrivey has revealed that he turned down a host of offers to sign for Celta Vigo this summer.

The 30-year-old scored 12 league goals for Rayo Vallecano last season, with his form prompting plenty of interest from around Europe.

The attacker moved to Celta on a free this summer, however, and has already found the back of the net in the league for his new club.

"I talked to Eduardo [Berizzo] before I came but I wasn't sure if it would materialise. The transfer market is an unpredictable thing – every day I would wake up, I'd have an offer from a different club, but Celta convinced me," he told AS.

"I talked with my friends Iago Falque (born in Vigo) and Roberto Trashorras (ex-Celta player) – they told me all about life in the city and some other things, it was a pretty easy decision after that.

"It's different to Madrid, that's for sure. It has lots of nice things but I do miss the sea sometimes. I love Spain as a whole though, I never thought I'd live outside of Argentina until I retired. Just lately, I've beginning to realise what a great decision it was."

Larrivey started his professional career with Huracan.
