Thomas Rogne: 'Celtic belong in European football'

Celtic defender Thomas Rogne believes that the club are good enough to play Champions League football this season.

Celtic defender Thomas Rogne has insisted that the club are good enough to compete in the Champions League.

The Hoops play the first leg of their qualifying tie against HJK Helsinki on Wednesday as they bid to return to Europe's premier competition.

The Norwegian centre-back said: "We've got a chance to get into Europe and that's important for us, we played in the Europa League last year and we enjoyed it.

"If we get the chance to play in the Champions League this year, it's going to be even bigger. It's where everyone wants to be and hopefully we can take a Scottish team into the Champions League."

Neil Lennon's side will be desperate to beat Helsinki and keep alive their chances of earning the considerable financial rewards that come with making the Champions League group stages.
