Ronny Deila targets Scottish treble

Ronny Deila says that a treble remains a realistic goal for his Celtic team this season.

Ronny Deila has challenged his Celtic side to use their Europa League exit as motivation to achieve a domestic treble this season.

The Scottish Premiership champions can move nine points clear of second-placed Aberdeen with victory over St Johnstone on Wednesday night.

Deila's side also have a Scottish Cup quarter-final and a Scottish League Cup final on the horizon - both against Dundee United - and the Norwegian says that a treble remains a possibility.

"I didn't say we were going to win the Europa League because that was not realistic but it is realistic to win the treble," Deila, whose team were knocked out of Europe by Inter Milan last week, told Sky Sports News.

"I know that it is up to us. If we don't do it then we are not good enough but high goals gets high demands and good performances and this group can handle it."

Only two managers have ever won a treble at Celtic - Jock Stein in 1967 and 1969, followed by Martin O'Neill in 2001.
