Brendan Rodgers: 'Moussa Dembele very content and happy'

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers insists that Moussa Dembele "is very content and happy" amid suggestions that the Frenchman will leave the club this summer.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Moussa Dembele "is very content and happy" amid suggestions that the Frenchman will leave the Scottish giants in this summer's transfer window.

The 20-year-old, has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, after scoring 24 times for the Hoops last season.

The forward missed the end of last season with a hamstring problem, but featured in Celtic's 1-1 draw with Rapid Vienna on Saturday afternoon, scoring his team's equaliser in the pre-season friendly.

Rodgers has claimed that Dembele will not leave Celtic before their Champions League qualifiers, but has conceded that the youngster could be tempted away before the start of the Scottish Premiership campaign.

"Moussa is very content and happy. He looks very fit and hasn't had a long lay-off because he went away with the French Under 21s," Rodgers told reporters.

"He is someone of great character. He is very stable, nothing affects him, but if there's anything that comes in... He is not a player we want to sell, but we know how football works and we'll see what happens.

"But certainly not until after the Champions League qualifiers, there won't be anything done before then. That goes for all the players. I am very happy with the general make-up of the squad."

Dembele joined Celtic from Fulham in last summer's transfer window.
