John Terry: 'Chelsea needed a big performance'

John Terry says that Chelsea had no option but to beat Porto in the Champions League after a poor start to the Premier League season.

John Terry has said that Chelsea needed a "big performance" after the club's 2-0 Champions League win over Porto.

An own goal from Ivan Marcano and a second-half goal by Willian ensured the Blues' qualification to the knockout stages as Group G winners.

"With our league form being as it is, the fans needed this performance and the players needed it. We gave a big performance, we're delighted," Terry told reporters.

"In the league I think we have lacked a bit of confidence but not in the Champions League. We have been fluent and dangerous and we saw that again tonight. Now we go to Leicester on Monday, which will be difficult, but we need to try and replicate this performance."

The victory came just four days after Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League.
