Preview: Chelsea vs. Basel

Sports Mole looks ahead to Chelsea's Champions League opener against Basel at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea begin a new Champions League adventure under Jose Mourinho on Wednesday when they welcome Swiss champions Basel to Stamford Bridge in Group E.

The Blues, who have lost their last two matches in all competitions, struggled in the tournament last year as they failed to get past the group stage.

However, there was eventual joy for the London club as they went on to win the Europa League after knocking out Basel in the semi-finals.

Basel enjoyed relative success in the Champions League two years ago by reaching the quarter-finals before they were defeated by Bayern Munich.

Oscar, Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres could all return for Chelsea following Saturday's 1-0 loss at Everton in the Premier League.
