Levi Colwill, Christopher Nkunku: Chelsea injury list, return dates ahead of Manchester City clash

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

Chelsea are back in action on Saturday evening when they square off against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Although Mauricio Pochettino's side have recently been criticised, the Blues bounced back with a 6-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League earlier this week.

However, Chelsea have already suffered one heartbreak at Wembley Stadium this season - losing to Liverpool in the EFL Cup final - and Pochettino will be hoping that his side can continue their unbeaten run against the 2023 winners from earlier in the season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the showdown with Man City in the capital.

Levi Colwill

Status: Out
Type of injury: Toe
Possible return date: April 23 (vs. Arsenal)

Levi Colwill has been absent since the beginning of March with a toe injury. However, the defender has recently returned to light training and may have an outside chance of returning against Arsenal on Tuesday.

Christopher Nkunku

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Christopher Nkunku has been absent since suffering a hamstring injury during the EFL Cup final against Liverpool at the end of February. Although he was initially expected to return after the March international break, the France international remains out of contention, even though he has since competed in partial training.

Wesley Fofana

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Wesley Fofana faces a battle to return to action before the end of the campaign due to the serious knee injury that he suffered ahead of the 2023-24 season. All things considered, he is highly unlikely to be risked until next season.

Reece James

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Reece James underwent hamstring surgery towards the end of last year, and it is currently unclear when the England international could be available for selection.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Lesley Ugochukwu picked up a hamstring injury towards the end of 2023, and Chelsea have not offered any indications of when he could potentially return to first-team training.

Romeo Lavia

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Romeo Lavia has made just one substitute appearance since joining Chelsea last summer, and the midfielder will not be available for selection until the 2024-25 campaign due to a thigh problem.

Robert Sanchez

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: April 20 (vs. Man City)

As a result of a knee injury and illness, Robert Sanchez has been limited to FA Cup appearances since the turn of the year. However, having missed the game with Everton due to the latter, the goalkeeper will only feature on the substitutes' bench at best having returned to partial training.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for this match. However, midfielder Cesare Casadei is unavailable due to being cup-tied through representing Leicester City earlier in the competition.
