Tottenham Hotspur vs. Chelsea head-to-head record

Ahead of Monday's Premier League London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, Sports Mole takes a closer look at the head-to-head record between the two sides.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium welcomes fans en masse for a thrilling Premier League London derby on Monday night, as Spurs play host to capital counterparts Chelsea.

Lilywhites boss Ange Postecoglou has amassed an all-time high 26 points from his first 10 Premier League games as a head coach, seeing his men occupy top spot before this weekend's fixtures kick off.

However, ex-Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino has seen his side take just one point against Arsenal and Brentford to lie 11th in the table, although they did sink Blackburn Rovers 2-0 in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Ahead of Monday's blockbuster battle, Sports Mole takes a closer look at the head-to-head record between the two London giants.

HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD

Chelsea wins: 77

One hundred and 14 years on from their inaugural meeting in 1909 - which ended in a 2-1 win for Chelsea - the Blues and Tottenham have squared off 175 times down the years, and the West Londoners unsurprisingly trump their capital foes in the head-to-head column.

Indeed, Monday's visitors have 77 wins to show from their 175 contests with Tottenham, who in contrast have 56 victories under their belt, while there have been another 42 stalemates played out down the years.

The Premier League head-to-head column also weighs heavily in Chelsea's favour, as the Blues have only ever lost eight of their 62 meetings with Tottenham in this competition, winning 33 of them and drawing 21 times.

The West London giants also have 110 Premier League goals to show for their efforts against Tottenham - including a competition high 51 on the road - while Spurs have breached the Blues' backline 59 times since the top flight's rebranding in 1992, and it took until 2006 for Spurs to finally beat Chelsea in a Premier League game.

Chelsea had strung together a magnificent 28-game unbeaten run against Tottenham in the Premier League before that fateful day at White Hart Lane in November 2006, where Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson cancelled out Claude Makelele's goal to sink future head coach Jose Mourinho.

Less than two years later in February 2008, Tottenham would go on to defeat Chelsea 2-1 in the final of the League Cup thanks to an extra-time Jonathan Woodgate goal, which remains their most recent major trophy triumph to date, but Chelsea earned a small slice of revenge with an thrilling 4-2 FA Cup semi-final success in 2017.

That six-goal Wembley spectacular came after the infamous Battle of the Bridge, where Pochettino's Tottenham - and Danny Rose in particular - lost their rag after a 2-2 draw in West London killed off their chances of ending Leicester City's title fairytale.

In more recent times, Chelsea have had Spurs' number more often than not and made it seven games unbeaten against the Lilywhites with another fiery four-goal Stamford Bridge draw last August, where Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte exchanged in a full-time war of words with their hands interlocked.

However, ex-Blues boss Conte cut a much more pleased figure in February, as Tottenham ran out 2-0 winners over Graham Potter's Chelsea and are now seeking back-to-back Premier League victories over the West Londoners for the first time since 2018 under, who else, Pochettino.
