Chelsea 'want Frank Lampard to join coaching staff, become future manager'

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is linked with a first-team coaching position at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are reportedly keen to add club legend Frank Lampard to their first-team coaching staff.

According to The Sun, the Blues hierarchy is eager to recruit the former England international to their backroom setup, with a view to him eventually managing the first team.

Lampard has spent the past 18 months studying for his UEFA 'A' coaching licence and is said to be keen to enter management at the earliest opportunity.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly impressed with the former midfielder's progress as an aspiring coach and could make him an employment offer as soon as next season.

Current Blues boss Antonio Conte has been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, with Carlo Ancelotti and Luis Enrique among those touted as potential replacements.

Chelsea are also expected to shake up their backroom setup if a new head coach comes in, and Lampard is said to be among the frontrunners for a spot on the team.
